There are two processes for manufacturing acrylic

1. Extrusion/extrusion method

2. Cellular tube type

The extrusion method of manufacturing acrylic is less expensive, but has two problems. One is that it tends to be much softer than cell-cast acrylic, which causes it to scratch more easily. Second, the surface of the extruded acrylic may have impurities. While it may appear to be a deal breaker, this type of acrylic can be applied to areas where such events result in very few contact points for scratching. This is because the lower cost does result in significant savings when dealing with larger quantities.

On the other hand, cell cast acrylic is more durable and has a harder surface due to the casting process. The process of cell casting is such that it is formed in a closed area. This reduces the chances of impurities entering the material. As a result, the final product looks clearer when it is made. Plexiglas is also a cell-cast acrylic. Acrylic is "softer" than "Plexiglas", but more forgiving under pressure. It can withstand higher pressures before breaking.

Know your product.

The most common problem with acrylic and plexiglass is the many names used in the plastics industry. Acrylic is the primary name, indicating the type of polymer used in its manufacture. Plexiglas is basically just a trade or brand name, and it is called plexiglass. So if you go to the store and ask for acrylic, you will get what is in stock in the store. Since "acrylic" is the main product name for the product, it is best to ask for "extruded acrylic" or "unit cast acrylic". Make sure you get the right product by knowing the different types of acrylic and understanding the differences between them.

Service life of acrylic products.

The service life of acrylic-based plastics is a maximum of 7 to 10 years. This is usually the limited warranty for acrylic products marketed, but this limited warranty only covers fading and discoloration. Keep in mind that this does not mean that the material will last the full 10 years, as there are factors involved that can accelerate fading and discoloration. For example, if you live in an area with a high salt content in the air (wet or near a beach), the acrylic material may start to show signs of decay sooner. The same is true for acrylic panels that come in contact with alcohol or ammonia, which can also show signs of fading and discoloration more quickly. So, in short, the harder the surface, the longer the life you will get from your acrylic product.

Plastic Artist-Acrylic Processing Technology

Acrylic can be used casting, injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, laser engraving, laser cutting and other processes. Casting molding Casting molding for forming plexiglass sheet, bar and other profiles, that is, body-bulk polymerization method of forming profiles. After casting molded products need to be post-processed, post-processing conditions are incubated at 60 ℃ 2 hours, 120 ℃ for 2 hours. Injection molding Injection molding using suspension polymerization obtained pellets, molding in the ordinary plunger or screw injection molding machine. Process parameters include screw injection molding machine, plunger injection molding machine, barrel temperature, injection molding products also need to eliminate the internal stress treatment, processing in the hot air circulation oven at 70 ~ 80 ℃, processing time as the thickness of acrylic products, the general All about 4 hours. Thermoforming Thermoforming is the process of making plexiglass sheets or she...

How much do you know about PMMA Diffuser Sheet?

Background, technical characteristics, principle and application of PMMA diffuser. High Quality PMMA Diffuser Sheet , a material with light diffusing properties, is one of the types of diffuser plates of PS (polystyrene), PC (polycarbonate), PP (polypropylene), etc. The optical characteristics of plastic sheets such as haze, high light transmittance and high diffusivity can effectively convert point or line light sources into soft and uniform surface light sources. Under the premise of achieving good light transmittance, they also have good The light source lattice shielding property is an ideal optical material for solving the secondary light distribution of LED lamp products, and is the best light diffusion material for LED lighting products. PMMA Diffuser Sheet First, the PMMA diffuser produces a background In the process of LED lighting fixtures being gradually accepted by the market, the problem of LED lamp masks has been plagued by lamp manufacturers, which must have h...

What Effect Does The Haze Of The PS Diffuser Have On Light Transmission?

The haze of the PS diffuser has a certain influence on the light transmittance of the material. What kind of influence is there, and what is the haze? Let   China Acrylic Sheet Factory   analyze it for everyone. Haze, also known as turbidity, can be used to measure the extent to which a transparent or translucent material is unclear or turbid, and represents an indicator of scatter. Haze is caused by a cloudy or hazy appearance caused by light scattering from the internal or external surface of the material. In simple terms, haze is the percentage of the ratio of the diffuse light flux to the painful material flux. Both light transmittance and haze are important indicators for measuring the transparency of materials. The relationship between the two is as follows: Generally speaking, there is an inverse relationship between light transmittance and haze, that is, a material with a high transmittance has a low haze. vice versa. But the relationship between the two is not always ...
